How Many Credits Do You Need to Graduate High School in Washington?
Students must successfully earn a minimum of 24 credits to graduate. In addition to the credits, students must complete a High School and Beyond Plan, a graduation pathway in both ELA and Math, and make sure they took Washington State History in either Middle or High School. Be sure to check your school handbook for updates.
Note: As a student that is coming from a prior homeschooling learning environment and considering enrollment in our school, we are unable to directly award credit for any content or curriculum that was taught while homeschooling. If an accredited program was used while homeschooling this can be further discussed with the school counselor. Students who wish to graduate from our school must earn 24 credits from an accredited institution that awards credit. We employ a credit competency policy that will allow your student to potentially earn credit for some courses in core subjects (Math, English, Science, Social Studies, and World Language) through successful completion of a competency exam. We do not award credit for physical education, health, or other elective type courses taught while homeschooling. The course credits required to graduate are included below.
